State Auditor's Office study, 1975 [state publication].

This report to the State Auditing Committee Study Group appears to have been written in response to studies of the Auditor's Office, particularly the Governor's Cost Control Survey and the Report of Dr. Robert Freeman and John Cooper. The report describes the work of the State Auditor's Office, outlining its duties, organizational structure, and general policies and operating procedures, and it gives an historical/statistical overview. Issues include the legality of the Office making field audits (of cities) when the Examiner of Public Accounts is authorized but not required to audit these groups; if the Property Control Section should remain in the Office; and if the Office should be placed under legislative supervision. Comments, recommendations, and detailed appendices, especially a questionnaire on internal control, are also presented.
